‘Who Killed Summer?’ was the first cross platform online drama to truly behave like its young, hyper-connected audience and attracted a massive 5 million views over 22 episodes. With TV-quality production values, shown in virtual real-time and with a narrative spread across the social web, it was a pioneering new way for Vodafone to engage and increase brand recall with the digital generation.
The ‘Who Killed Summer?’ hub site pulled all of WKS’s online activity into one place. From here viewers could access various social media environments, interact with tools and apps and view feeds of conversations taking place across the social web.
A mobile app enabled fans to watch the show on their phones and a ‘mini player’ could be installed within our viewers’ social media, enabling them to watch WKS.
The exciting and innovative nature of this concept attracted several celebrity appearances including: Liam Gallagher, Huey Morgan (Fun Lovin’ Criminals), DJ Yoda and Nathan ‘Flutebox’ Lee.
